Philip Faraone
Sir Philip L. Faraone, KHS  is a native Rhode Islander.  He studied organ at Dominican University, River Forest, Illinois.  He holds a degree in Sacred Music and obtained a Master of Art in Teaching from Rhode Island College, Providence, Rhode Island  Further studies toward an Artist Diploma and a Doctorate of Musical Arts were at the Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford.  Mr. Faraone was the 1979 recipient of the Bach Organ Scholarship, a gift from the descendants of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Mr. Faraone began concert tours at the age of fifteen. He has performed throughout the United States, Toronto and Montreal, Canada.  European concerts have been given in London, Manchester, Munich, Salzburg, Rome, Assisi, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Kiev. He has served as a parish organist since the age of twelve. Mr. Faraone has served as organist for the Gregorian Concert Choir since 1990. He was appointed Cathedral Organist of the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in 1997. He has performed thoughout Italy on several occasions with the Gregorian Concert Choir including two performances at Saint Peter's Basilica, Vatican City.

Mr. Faraone has served as  choir director at Cranston High School West since 1997 where he also  teaches Music History, Music Theoryand Humanities.  With the Choirs of Cranston High School West, he has taken two concert tours to Italy. Performances have also been given at Mc Gill University, Montreal, University of Hartford and along with the Gregorian Concert Choir at Saint Patrick's Cathedral, NY.  In April, the choir of West will perform on tour at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Washington,DC. In 2009, the choir received ratings of Superior and Excellent at the RIMEA Choral Festival.     

In 2000, Faraone was awarded the Annual Prize by the Accademia dei Prossimali for his many performances in Rome and for a recital at Santa Maria del Popolo, Rome. He was also recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Rome,  for his work with youth.  In 2009, Faraone was invested into the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem with the rank of Knight.       

Mr. Faraone resides in Cranston with his wife Deborah, and his children, Gaetano and Norma Ann.
